I have been seriously thinking about going to eastwind.  The required gear list is printed out and I have made a decient dent in it over the summer.  It all comes down to the exact dates this year and how many classes I am willing to skip to go (with any luck it will start on spring break!)

but eastwind is what I aspire to in airsoft, complete milsim and 24 hours a day in the feild.  This is what I imagined airsoft would be all those years ago

Which side are you planning to attend as?

NATO forces, U.S.

mainly for the ease of getting the gear.  I've been hitting up flea markets all summer.  I doubt it will be 'cheaper' than the warsaw pact, but it is so much easier to find US items around

Warsaw pact is much harder to acquire and is more expensive.   The other choice is to go German (east or west) and that stuff is pretty cheap)

I figured that when the eastwind website gave links to surplus shops in europe.  shipping alone would cost at least 25% of everything you buy.  I pulled that number out of thin air, but it's true that it is easy to spend as much shipping something as it does to buy them.

As I get established in my career I wouldn't mind having the warsaw pact loadout.  I love the weapon requriement, what does it say?  AK47, at least two, or at least three.  lol

First couple days are filled with activities and everyday the tempo of the event builds.  You might find yourself on a variety of work details throughout the base camp, which is in effect....realistic, from digging trenches, filling sandbags, erecting various tents, sitting at the switchboard to fire watch and more.  The back half of the event is where you are most likely to find the highest tempo.  But, you never know what may unfold from the get go.  If your trying to decide on the front or back half of the event, I would say the back half is good.  I have 2 buddies that are doing just that.
Keep in mind, Eastwind is not about the fights with your airsoft weapon, its more in line with what you will experience in the simulation of '80's era soldiers, be it NATO or Eastbloc.

ha haha ahha!  It's been posted.  And the dates line up nicely with my spring break, It starts on March 12th, the monday of my spring break and goes to March 20th, which is a tuesday I should be in class... but two missed days? not a big issue.  I just have to ponder the costs for the next month and decide if I can go financially

wait, I must be stupid if I think I'll be in class on wednesday after 9 days at eastwind.... travel alone will be exhausting (I could go in the full nato uniform.... even though I may stink like death and coffee)
